Arguably the most famous sandal of the Italian autarchic production and it was probably made in Vigevano. It is often mentioned as one of the most original of the production of the late 30's, and rightly so. At that time Italy had to cope with the shortage of leather and hides because the sanctions imposed after the imperialist occupation of Ethiopia and also due to the import limitations to rebalance the economic deficit (excessive purchase abroad of raw leather). The solution for this sandal was an original sole made with fourteen wooden cylinders. Unfortunately both manufacturer and designer's names are lost in time.

Currently the sandal can be seen in two exhibitions: at the International Footwear Museum of Vigevano (permanent collection) and at the Triennale Design Museum (Milan) until February 25, 2015.
