Buckles, buckles and more buckles. They always used them, but between 1970 and 1971 Titano literally opened the gate.
Before using buckles by Brancondi (favored by designer Salvatore Deodato) they went for Milan's Walter Schmid. The ones used for the Titano models here below are shown in the center and bottom rows of the Schmid advertisement. The bigger, the better.

It went uncredited what buckle brand used Deodato for the Bologna Footwear Fair of the following year; Brancondi is the likely candidate - given the Foortwear Oscar Award he gained for the accessories (using Titano footwear) - but we can't say for sure. Either way, the boot didn't went unnoticed.
