JIŘI KOLÁŘ (1914-2002): pittore, poeta e scrittore cecoslovacco. Giudicato un sovversivo per i suoi scritti, viene arrestato nel 1953 e rilasciato dopo alcuni mesi, ma con il diveto di pubblicare. É stato tra i firmatari del Charter 77 (1976) per chiedere al governo filo stalinista ceco di rispettare gli accordi internazioni sui diritti umani. Insieme all'ex presidente ceco Václav Havel ha scritto un'opera teatrale. 

JIŘI KOLÁŘ (1914-2002): Czech collage artist, painter, poet and writer. He was considered by the Czech government a subversive and imprisoned in 1953 for one of his writings. Released a few months later but banned from publications and exhibitions. Along with others, signed the Charter 77 (1976), a declaration calling on the Czech Communist goverment to respect international human-rights agreements. Together with former (and first) Czech president Václav Havel, wrote a playwright.

Jiří Kolář é deceduto a Praga l'11 agosto 2002. Al funerale, Václav Havel lo ha definito un esempio morale oltre che un pilastro della cultura ceca della seconda metà del XX secolo.

Jiří Kolář died in Prague August, 11 2002. Speaking at his funeral, Václav Havel called him one of the pillars of the Czech culture of the second half of the 20th century and a moral example to others.
