OTTORINO BOSSI & PEGABO | MANOLO BLAHNIK'S FIRST STEPS | VIGEVANO | PART 1

LA PEGABO DI OTTORINO BOSSI (E I PRIMI PASSI DI MANOLO BLAHNIK IN ITALIA) | VIGEVANO | PRIMA PARTE

OTTORINO BOSSI

Manolo Blahnik, right now the most famous shoe designer in the world, recalled in an interview that he started his successful Made in Italy production thanks to the expertise of the entrepreneur Ottorino Bossi.

It happened a quarter of a century before Sex And The City [1972-1973]. At the time Blahnik was an unknown designer and Ottorino Bossi an important entrepreneur. Today is the other way around, unless you are also a fan of vintage shoes.

Vigevano

Even less known it's the name of the first Bossi’s company in Vigevano – PEGABO - the site where, in addition to Blahnik, many famous designers/manufacturers produced their wonderful models, such us Roger Vivier, François Villon, Beltrami from Florence ...

Pegabo, later renamed OTTORINO BOSSI, for over twenty years was a leading company with the highest quality and prestige in the Italian footwear industry. Its owner was also very much involved in institutional activities: first as a representative of Vigevano entrepreneurs, then as president of the Micam shoe event, then finally as president of ANCI and CEC, the Italian and the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry.
