The Greil Marcus quote refers to a different ad. Here the caption plays with the better known "blue suede shoes".
Anyway, Elvis is on stage at the Olympia Theater, Miami - August 1956.
The original photograph was taken by Charles Trainor and Elvis is wearing white buck shoes.
