Nel 2009 Gucci ha citato Guess in un tribunale americano per violazione del marchio registrato. Secondo l'ex marchio italiano, il logo Guess é troppo simile a quello di Gucci per l'utilizzo delle lettere G intrecciate. La richiesta per danni ammonta a $ 124 milioni.
Indipendentemente da chi vincerà la causa, qui ci viene ricordata una lezione importante: copiare é lecito se il copiato non é in grado di farti causa.
Back in 2009 Gucci filed in the U.S. a trademark infringement case against Guess. According to the former Italian brand, the Guess logo is too similar to Gucci's (interlocking G's involved). Therefore they asked for $ 124 million in damages.
No matter who will prevail in the court of Law, there's a lesson to be learned here: it's all right to copy from those who cannot sue you.
