Qualcuno ha scritto che la "centralità nella rappresentazione" della scarpa va attribuita a "Le Modèle Rouge" di Magritte dimenticando che Van Gogh c'era arrivato mezzo secolo prima.
Quindi con ammirazione e sorpresa annoto che "White Shos" di Eva Gonzalès anticipa Van Gogh di cinque anni. Com'é possibile che in tutti i libri che ripercorrono la storia della calzatura nessuno l'abbia notata prima? Troppo presi a contemplare in solitudine l'"Olympia" di Édouard Manet?
A proposito di Manet: Eva Gonzalès (19 aprile 1849 - 6 maggio 1883) é stata l'unica allieva di Manet e per il suo maestro ha anche posato. Il destino ha voluto che morisse a soli 34 anni durante il parto. Édouard Manet era morto sei giorni prima.
Somebody mistakenly wrote that Magritte with "Le Modèle Rouge" gave shoes a central role in portraits shamefully forgetting Van Gogh who got there first half a century before.
Now, it's a revelation to discover that Eva Gonzalès's "White Shoes" predate Van Gogh by five years. How could it be possible with all the books out there researching footwear not to point her out? Too busy contemplating in solitude Manet's "Olympia"?
Right, Édouard Manet: Eva Gonzales (April 19, 1849 - May 6, 1883) was Manet's only student (and model). She died in childbirth at the age thirty-four six days after Manet's death.
