1941 - 2010 | DON VAN VLIET A.K.A. CAPTAIN BEEFHEART | STYLE INTO REBELLION

If I haven’t mentioned it before - Don loves shoes and used to say he had a “shoe fetish.” In fact, he could be have been christened the “Imelda Marcos of avant-garde rock.” I am sure that he had dozens of pairs of shoes even then and they were all in pristine condition, as he was quite careful with them. Now he had a pair with sticky icing all over them. It must have taken a great deal of anger to overcome his obsession with immaculate shoes.

There was at least one more major song that never was recorded. I think it deserves mention. It was called Cobbler With Patent Leather Shoes. I only remember the first two lines of the bridge.
She found her a cobbler with patent leather shoes.
No better man could be found with youth and luck to use.
