A LITTLE SOLE SEARCHING | LINA CAVALIERI'S BOOT |

Bertolini.

A while ago we featured soprano Lina Cavalieri's ankle boots at the 1957 Vigevano exhibition. It was organized by Cav. Bertolini who later founded the Museum of the same name (now International Footwear Museum of Vigevano).

Lina Cavalieri's ankle boot

The above photo was taken from ALBA magazine (January, 1957) and the original caption reads as follow:
Lina Cavalieri's ankle boot. The famous soprano (beginning of the XX century), once called opera's greatest beauty. Kidskin upper and invisible seams; heel Louis XV.

The boot - now kept at the historical section of the Museum - was owned by Lina Cavalieri but NEVER worn as you can see from the immaculate sole.

It'a a small yet interesting detail that deserved to be shown. And now, a message from Lina's sponsor.

How to save the freshness of youth

Cavalieri's life was portrayed in the movie "Beautiful But Dangerous" by director Robert Z. Leonard, starring Gina Lollobrigida as the soprano. In order to play the duel scene, the actress took some fencing lessons. The role gained her the David di Donatello Award in 1956.
